Dam Sen Cultural Park
Dam Sen Cultural Park is an amusement park situated in District 11, Saigon. The park is one of the largest and most modern parks in the country with 50 hectares hectares including 20% of lakes and 60% of green trees and gardens. It as an attracting place for entertainment for both children and juvenile.
Prior to1975, the present-day Dam Sen Cultural Park Saigon was a wild, submerged area. Over the years, thanks to millions of working hours rendered by the local citizens, it is now ranked at the top nationwide in terms of its large area and valuable attractions for sight-seeing and entertainment.
Dam Sen Cultural Park are also known by the Dam Sen Water Park Saigon, features a variety of water slides, a wave pool, children’s pool, wandering river, wild river, boomerang and several other thrilling rides for visitors of all ages. If your are a thrill-seeker, the Kamikaze, the crazy train, horrible palace, fast-paced water slide measuring 19 meters in height, Flying Fox-themed water ride where you get to hang from a 10 meter-long cable over a massive swimming pool are for you. Young tourists can enjoy the children’s play area which houses colorful slides, and massive statues of elephants and hippos spouting water jets.
Visitors coming to Dam Sen Park will have a chance to discover the unique cultural features of the Vietnamese southerners. They include performances of folk songs and music (“Don Ca Tai Tu”- a unique kind of traditional music in the south), displays of traditional handicraft articles and gastronomy, a floating market, a bird singing contest, and folk games and other entertainment. On holidays or the traditional lunar festival in particular, visitors will be able to enjoy watching the Spring Flower Fair, a bonsai plants contest and dragon dance performances amid an exciting and happy atmosphere.
In addition to these, Dam Sen aquarium is the “hot spots” of the park. It is built in the shape of a sea crab on an area of over 3,000 square meters, which is the world for more than 6,000 aquatic animals and plants. Visitors will find new experiences by crossing through an under-sea continent, stopping at the legendary Atlantic City, going along the world’s longest river, or exploring the huge flora in the Mekong River basin. Most of the samples in the aquarium were brought from the sea off Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands while the rest come from the Amazon and Mekong Rivers. Additionally, Dinosaur Park with hundreds of giant dinosaurs vividly show the world of dinosaurs surely leaving wonderful feelings when tourists participate in Saigon travel to the fascinating entertainment point.
